Review Process
Criteria for publication
Materials acceptable for publication include:
- Research - reports of data from original research
- Reviews - comprehensive, authoritative descriptions of any subject within the scope of the journal. These articles are usually written by opinion leaders that have been invited by the Editorial Board.
- Methodology articles - present a new experimental method, test or procedure. The method described may either be completely new, or may offer a better version of an existing method. The article must describe a demonstrable advance on what is currently available.
- Letters to the Editor - these can take three forms: a substantial re-analysis of a previously published article or a substantial response to such a re-analysis from the authors of the original publication, or an article that may not cover 'standard research' but that may be relevant to readers.
- Short communications – A quick communication on a part of an on-going research that warrant mention.
Peer-review policies
Manuscripts submitted to JHU Journals will generally be reviewed by two (2) experts. Each author may recommend four (4) experts in the field of study.
Authors should be communicated of the final decision on their articles within six (6) to eight (8) weeks of submission.
JHU Journals aims for very fast publication and will endeavor to reach a first decision within six (6) weeks.

Supplements
JHU Journals will consider supplements based on proceedings (full articles or meeting abstracts), reviews, or research. All articles submitted for publication in supplements are subject to peer review. Published supplements are fully accessible online.

Articles in JHU Journals should be cited in the same way as articles in a traditional journal
